The body doesn't need a lot. It just needs a little help.

This sensory-based myofascial release practice concentrates on the upper body: the neck, upper back, and shoulders, with some movement for the whole vertebral column and the side body too. It's not always easy to lie down, especially if some areas of the back body have been a little loud for us. So we begin by simply sensing what's here, and watch how it shifts and changes along the way.

We go nice and slow whenever we move the head and neck. The cervical spine needs a lot of TLC in movement, and as we begin to open up the fascia here, so close to the base of the brain, the nervous system responds very quickly. Little cranial-sacral movements, a gentle hug for the shoulders, little shrugs that let the shoulders dance, and a soft lift of the elbows on the belly, like a little bird ready to take off.

As I say in my book, the body doesn't need a lot. It just needs a little help to find its way back. The biggest problem is not the body. It's getting the mind out of the way. So we meet whatever we find with curiosity and compassion. No whys or how-comes, just as it is.
